![]() ![]() When I heard it was coming to Xbox One, it instantly became a purchase I was planning to make. It became a good I was aware of and hoped to see it in the future. I had seen it as part of a end of year breakdown of underrated games people might have missed. ![]() AVICII was average at best, while Racer left me quite disappointed.Īll that brings me to Sayonara Wild Hearts. ![]() They just didn't completely click with me. Both were serviceable games in their own right, but I left each feeling something was missing. At the end of 2019 and start of 2020, I played two new music games on Xbox One, AVICII Invector and Music Racer. Even when the music isn't my favorite style, I still enjoy seeing what's on offer in a new game. I might not be the best at them, but I find myself drawn to play them. I have a favorite level, but that feels like a fundementally unfair concept given how good they all are.Music is a genre that I get a lot of enjoyment out of. The variations in how you move and perspective shifts pack a lot of punch in adding subtle diversity I adore how much this game is optimized for sight-reading, they really nailed being able to react to things for the first time while they came at you at lightning speeds and surprise you in flashy ways.Įach level feels so distinct, yet the whole game is an incredibly cohesive experience. ![]() I love the scaling collectible scoring system It's amazing how the heart collectibles throughout each stage are the exact thing needed to make the high-speed fair while also being the perfect way to test skill. I adore the style here and quite literally enjoyed every second. The gameplay is precisely the right amount of engaging to let the banger soundtrack and incredible visual spectacle shine. This game is so fast-paced, dazzling and creative. So lovely that I immediately played through it again after finishing. Sayonara Wild Hearts is like if someone made the crazy twisty Mario Kart 8 courses into a playable music album and it is just an awesome experience. ![]()
